In addition to in person treatment, I also provide telehealth sessions. I use a video platform that is user friendly, confidential, and secure. I’m happy to answer your questions on how this service can help you begin or continue treatment.
Dr. Jacobs is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience in child, adolescent and adult therapy. Her broad experience in therapy and testing has included a focus on developmental disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities, as well as assessing mood and behavioral difficulties. Another area of interest is working with children, teens and adults experiencing the range of anxiety and mood disorders, utilizing primarily cognitive behavioral techniques to treat these issues. She has worked extensively with children and families who are experiencing the impact of such issues as divorce, stepfamilies, single parent households and dual career couples. In addition, Dr. Jacobs has served as a consultant to schools, social service agencies, medical practices and legal services in her work as a psychologist.
A thorough diagnostic interview occurs during the first session with an initial treatment approach discussed at the end of this appointment. Additional background and developmental history may continue to be gathered during additional sessions. Along with the client or the client’s family, treatment goals are established and are continually reassessed throughout the treatment period. An awareness of the demands on most families in these busy times is incorporated into treatment so that goals are realistic and attainable. Collaboration with schools, physicians or other professionals is seen as an important part of treatment.
